I went in because of chronic sinusitis and severe congestion, and he barely even talked to me, looked into my nose and suggested I get turbinate reduction surgery. I asked him about side effects and he said there were minimal, and nothing serious. I scheduled an appointment for two weeks later. I called to speak with him a day before my appointment, and he wasn´ t available so I spoke with the nurse about my concerns. I had a really busy week of work coming up and I wanted to find out the recovery time and any limitations to my work and mental ability following the procedure. The nurse said, it´ s a small procedure, and I should be fine a couple of days. So I kept the appointment and went to him the next day. The same nurse then, as she is explaining to me about how the procedure is going to be done, tells me that I will be severely congested with nose bleeds for a week or two. I tell her, I specifically asked if there are any long term recovery time required as I have a very busy week at work. She said I should speak with the doctor. Dr. Stamm (I cringe even calling him a doctor!) came in the door, awkwardly shook my hand, did not even greet me with a hello and sat down. He didn´ t start the conversation, so I told him about my concerns with the recovery time, and asked for his " expert" opinion. He said the same thing that I´ ll be congested for a week or two. I told him then why did his nurse not tell me this yesterday. He didn´ t reply. He suggested I reschedule instead of even trying to make me feel reassured that I would be okay and the congestion is not as severe as it sounds. Throughout this time, he did not offer any advice, did not speak to me with respect, did not even try to hear out my concerns properly without making me sound stupid for being a bit nervous about an invasive procedure, however small it may be. A doctor is supposed to make his/her patients feel comfortable and offer the options available. He did not provide any other solutions to my congestion medicinally. So as I waited for his opinion, he just said I should reschedule. I said okay, and got up. And he muttered, okay see you later. His demeanor was of utter disrespect, so was his attitude and continued disinterest in my well-being. I would never go to him again or recommend him to any of my family, or friends. I will also be reporting him to whatever organization that oversees ENT doctors in MA. |
