Every drug she had me on are now on my Allergy List. Thanks to a Good Family Doctor who takes in every concern you have on the medication you´ ve been on. He does not toy with your health in any form or fashion. Thank God for Doctors like him.

Shows favouritism to her own race. Dr. Bawden insulted me by telling me not everyone in her town of Bowen Island don´ t get DRUNK like everyone on my Native Reservation. Failed to return to a small town in which she started patient/doctor relationship. Doctors of all people should know not to do harm to any patient. Dr. Bawden has little or no knowledge of Native people and the harm they have been put through by Non-Natives like her. Her failure to return to the town in which she started relationship goes to show her lack of helpfulness and intention to help those who need it the most. Try looking for a doctor who is far younger and with more intentions to help you. If you feel uneasy move onto another doctor. No patient deserves to be treated wrongfully because of race, age, lack education...Seek legal help for your safety. It´ s your right.

On Feb. 21st 2006 I was placed in a jail cell to be watched by an RCMP member until I was sent out to a psychiatric ward because the R.W. Large Memorial Hospital was too full to keep me there. Within minutes of getting there I was put in a CHOKE HOLD for reason I can´ t recall. Because of the lack of oxygen to my brain. I returned home and paged Dr. Bawden to tell her about the abuse I went through. No call was return so I sent an e-mail and her reply back was, ´ Date: Mon 27 Feb 2006 14:10:05 From: ´ Dr. Carole Bawden´ Subject: Glad you are OK To: st-lh@telus.net ´ You question why the RCMP were called. That is standard procedure in such circumstances. I understand that you were in real distress, in fact, to the point at which you could not calm yourself down. That was very worrying to everyone, which is why the RCMP got involved.´ Some caring doctor she was to be. Put my trust in her for 4 and a half year and this is what I got. SHE DID NOT GIVE ME A CHANCE TO TELL MY SIDE OF THE STORY! SHE STRAIGHT OUT GAVE ME SH*T ! DIDN´ T GIVE A RATS AS* THAT I WAS TORTURED!

My last appointment on, Nov. 27th 2007, Dr. Bawden requested for Marlene Starr at the Bella Bella Medical Clinic to get me to confirm I was going to make it to Dr. Bawdens office. I never got that message she wanted me to have. Instead, I got a yellow sticky paper with Dr. Bawdens address and appointment time. No one told me to confirm my appointment. I showed up for my appointment and Dr. Bawden been the doctor she is GAVE ME SH*T for not calling or e-mailing her to confirm I was going to make my appointment. How´ s it okay for a doctor like ´ Dr. Bawden´ to flip out on you and pretend that it never happened? Marlene herself gave me sh*t to because she couldn´ t do her job. I have a recored message from Dr. Bawden asking for conformation plus the note from Marlene.

For years I had a hard time trying to tell Dr. Bawden the bad side effect from the drugs she was giving me. To the last day I saw her she was given me the drugs that would cause mood swings, anger...In the past year I tried to tell her to print out the list of drugs and side effects I gave her and put it in the front of my file. But no she never lifted a fingure. I would talk to her til I was blue in the face. After consulting my lawyer and my family doctor, Dr. Bawden said, ´ Yes! That´ s a good idea.´ Geesh ya think? REMERON IS ONE OF MANY THAT MADE ME AGGRESSIVE. CIPRALEX, SEROQUEL, NOZINAN, WOULD DO THE SAME. STARNOC AND TRAZODONE GAVE ME A DIFFERENT EFFECT...severe EXCITEMENT! No matter how times I told her she would rather I take the one with the bad side effects. Up to last June 2007 Dr. Bawden was given me Nozinan right out of her office. Knowing very well Seroquel would make me short fussed Dr. Bawden still gave me another anti-psychotic. RISPERIDONE was another drug she wanted me on everyday. For what? I have Depression NOT schizophrenia. I have PTSD from the RCMP Officer, the hospital who treated me, and from Dr. Bawden.

A long distance relationship should never have been started. It was not right to stir up a lot of emotions so far away and not continue. Those who suffer with mental illness are the last people who should go through such suffering with the lack of care from a doctor like Dr. Carole Bawden

For some crazy reason this women had a delusion that we had a bond. I hated this women. She of all people was the one drugging me up and keeping me crazy. %90 of the drugs she put me on are on my allergy list in my medical file. How the hell can two people who have different feelings of one another have a bond? A doctor and her patient with this kind of BS. Was she that lonely? Constantly telling me, " We have a bond." That´ s a big no no in the world of Psychiatry. What doctor is stupid enough to show her patient her home phone number? She´ s the one who travelled 350 F*CKING MILE to help us poor natives and never returned because she never gave a shit. The way she came to town given us the impression she is going to help us is no different from a cock teaser. All Dr. Carole Anne Bawden is good for is playing with your head and drugging you up. She thought I was dumb enough not to know that her methods of therapy weren´ t right. E-MAIL THERAPY. PHONE THERAPY. She´ s one bigot to think I would not catch on just because I am first nation with no education.

This doctor suffers from the typical ´ god´ complex that many have. She wants to rush people through without caring about the quality of care she provides. Avoid at all costs!

Long winded, uses humor to make you feel dumb, laughs at you, considered e-mail to be therapy, and phones calls were therapy, as well. What doctor in the world would treat you by e-mail and phone calls? Careless with the medical records. Memory of Dr. Bawdens is very short. I´ ve listen to recorded phone calls of her and a friend of mine. Within a day or two she forgot she had mentioned the fact my friend needed refills on her medications. Later she sent an e-mail stating, ´ As I can recall you weren´ t in desperate need of them just yet.´ My closest friend suffered days to months on end of a lack of sleep. And all Dr. Bawden could say, ´ I haven´ t got around to looking for another sleep aid. I´ ll take care of that some time next week.´ Every medication my friend was put on made her irritable, aggressive to the point that I could not recognize her anymore. I am so glad my best friend has no more contact with this quack. If anyone was driving her crazy it was this women.

Let me tell you how short this quacks memory is, Carole Bawden accused her own patient for stealing her medical file without using her old eye balls to look for it first. She cared less how it made her feel and never apologize once since then. Carole Bawden´ s word to the family Lawyer, ´ We have a bond and I am not going to give up on her.´ The next day she talked to her patient and her patient asked Carole Bawden why she said, ´ We have a bond.´ Carole said, ´ I didn´ t. Well, maybe I did but I can´ t recall.´ Good God! The lawyer is older than her and she can´ t even remember her own words or recall accusing her patients of stealing. I think the lawyer would make a better doctor than this old absentminded women.

Another one of her bad habits was talking about her own family ie. ´ That´ s my dads name too. Oh it´ s my sister birthday on Feb 11th. I had this bad experience riding on a bus when I was a young lady and I had a hard time getting over it. Question, did you or your mother ever go through residential school and have to eat maggots and moldy foods? Did your teeth ever get ripped out without any pain medicine? Were you wiped with a skipping rope from head to toe? Have you ever been throwing in a psychiatric ward because you witness a child get murdered in the residential school? Were you ever drugged up to keep your mouth shut? NO! She cries over a bus driver screaming at her compared to what us Natives were put through by whites like her.

All the white mans laws, white doctors, government, churches tried to changes us so we can strive like them by any means necessary. Torture, rape, drugging, murder... and look how we turned out. Not just us Natives in Canada but everywhere else in the world. Thanks to people like Carole Bawden we are F*CKED by their abuse.

When my friend went to see her family doctor for her high blood pressure she was switched to a real high blood pressure pill. One month later both my friend and I went back to her family doctor and he noticed the side effects of the blood pressure pill and wrote off all other medication for blood pressure on her chart. He noted she was extremely sensitive to any medication given to her. After so many years of seen this quack Dr. Bawden, Dr. Bawden never took into consideration the drugs she was given out was causing more harm than good to her own patient. How can a doctor of her standings be that blind? And not to mention the years spent on this quack alone. How can she be a good doctor if she can´ t take the time to listen to her patients?

If you lived 200 plus miles away from Dr. Bawden and only had 2-3 appointments a year do you think you could benefit from the treatment of Dr. Bawden? No. And if you think I am wrong then walk a day in my friends shoes. Move so far away that you are on you own after your visit with Dr. Bawden. Pay $1000 or more on ever trip so you can get the help Dr. Bawden dished out in the first place and never continued. Now tell me how fair that is to anyone with a mental illness?

Dr. Bawden is heartless, cruel, and is down right ignorant to non-whites like my friend.

As a father, I witnessed the abuse and neglect at the hands of Dr. Carole Bawden. The lack of care she provided at the darkest hour of my daughter. I watch as my only daughter was knocked out full of drugs from the R.W. Large Memorial Hospital at the Bella Bella RCMP Station. She was placed there just because she had a bad side effect from the medications she over dosed from.

Here is the difference between our family doctor and this so-called specialist. One try of the real high blood pressure pill my girl was put on and it was not good at all. One look at her and Dr. Arnold said, ´ Well, if you´ re going to get this reaction from this drug you will most likely have it with the rest, so there´ s really is no point in trying any other. You´ ll have to stay on the water pill.´ Dr. Bawden, for years was putting my girl on anti psychotics for sleep knowing very well the medication did not agree with her mind and no matter what the side effect she still gave her a similar anti psychotic drug. Not once did it dawn on Dr. Bawden that the medications she was prescribing for my daughter was causing more harm than good to her mental health. As many times my girl tried to tell Dr. Carole Bawden it never sank in her highly educated head of hers.

I sit here scratching my head how a simple Family Doctor has more knowledge than this highly educated psychiatrist. Why waste your time with this lack of care from this shrink, Carole Bawden, when your very own family doctor understands the seriousness of bad side effects? I always thought shrinks get paid to help you and not keep you crazy.

Lets get back to my daughters stay in the Bella Bella RCMP Station. My wife and I went sleepless knowing our daughter was in a jail cell rather a hospital room. As she was been sent out on air ambulance the next day we saw the most heartbreaking view of our daughter. Her face was covered in blood spots from been put into a choke hold by the RCMP, the white of her eyes were completely red, her shirt, pants and socks had blood every where. We had no idea the torture she went through and was never told by neither by the hospital or the RCMP themselves. The question to why the choke hold happened will never be answered. The memory of my daughter was lost in that short time of been moved from the hospital to across the street at the RCMP station. From what I saw I can understand why those memories were lost. To this day she has never regained those few moments.

One week after her trauma, a 6 month old baby was brought into the ER and was under the care of the same doctor who sent my daughter to the RCMP cells. The baby was sent home with next to nothing for her sickness and that night she returned to the ER without a breath and later died. Three doctors tried to resuscitate her but failed. The one who cried was the very doctor who sent this baby home. This doctor no longer practices her medical license. Thank god!

The following summer a small child was murdered by her mother and she was the suspect from the moment the baby was seen by the paramedic. As to were the mother was placed following the murder of her child was in the R.W. Large Memorial Hospital. How can a mother who took the life of an innocent child be allowed to stay in the hospital as a patient, compared to a person suffering with depression and has uncontrollable side effect from the very drugs she was given by her shrink? It´ s insane! If you murder your kid in this town you can get pampered by the hospital staff than any person with a mental illness.

For the record, I´ ve seen psychiatric restrains in the ER so why is it that someone with depression has to suffer in jail like a criminal rather as a patient in a hospital?

On my daughters return from the Richmond Hospital, she tried to get a hold of her psychiatrist by paging her. Of course Dr. Bawden never returned her call or even heard about the trauma she went through at the hands of the hospital and RCMP. Instead of paging or leaving a voice message my girl sent an e-mail about the hell she endured. The response of Dr. Carole Bawden was heartless and cruel and show her lack of duty to her patient. Carole Bawden didn´ t take one moment to hear anything my daughter went through. The e-mail from Carole Bawden was, ´ That is standard procedure in such circumstances. You question why the RCMP got involved.´ What kind of BS is that? Carole Bawden went against everything she learned and degraded her own patient. God forbid this women to treat anyone in Bella Bella again. According her we are all Drunks. One can only wonder why.

For what ever time I have on this earth I will see to it that a heartless doctor like Carole Bawden will never hurt my daughter again. The pain she has endured from her very own doctor is the worse I´ ve ever witnessed. May Karma strike Dr. Bawden one day and open her eyes and see what she did to her own patient whom she had so much trust in.

QUACK QUACK QUACK!

I can´ t even believe the above reports, what hog-wash words of resentment and jealousy! Bawden has always demonstrated sensitivity to my First Nation´ s culture and in fact recommends I stay with my Spirit Circle . Her words are good words, her patience is cool, and she has good wisdom.

Medications in the psychiatric world are hit and miss. Trial and error. She´ s willing to listen and recommend , often offering choice as there are several meds for the same job or combos needed - we have responsiblitlies as patients and part of that is to measure and gauge ourselves and reactions to medication is included. The aforementioned ratings don´ t reflect responsibility on the part of the writers.

Bawden has been my shrink now for 8 years. About the worse I could toss her way is she is sometimes slow to move on things and doesn´ t always get back to me as soon as I´ d like. That´ s not exactly huge fault , in fact it would rate pretty low on the ´ condemnation scale´ , if it were even factored in to something like that.

Projection is common amongst patients who are in denial and I´ d say by my 20 plus years of having bi-polar disorder and a few shrinks along the way that the comments above are written in a denail and projection fashion.

Dr. Bawden is a good shrink....not the best but you´ d have to go to the Mayo clinic for that.

What the hell is all the garbage about Dr. Bawden? I´ m First Nations and a long time patient. I can´ t even begin to fathom the above assertations and charges. First off I admit it´ s hard to trust the White System, ok? Like even many whites have a hard time with it. But it´ s the fricking system and a shrink or other kind of doctor can only do so much. We have our responsibilities as patients too and if somethings not working it´ s up to us to voice it. If you´ re going to scream and holler you´ re not going to get much of anywhere with anyone.

Dr. Bawden knows bits and pieces of indigenous culture but not a lot cuz we don´ t tell a lot and the media is no help in it´ s potrayal. How many of us FN´ s are bigotted? Plenty, i can tell you that for fact. Get over it. If you´ re going to be doing shit in the system then stand strong with your culture cuz my bet is whereever the person is who typed all the seeming bullcrap doesn´ t go to sweats or medicine people or the medicine people on her rez are spiritually corrupt.

My meds are always changing but my body and metabolism are always changing, that´ s what happens with age, and menopause makes it even harder to hit the nail on the head with meds. I go away sometimes and rely on email with Bawden to stay connected. It helps. She´ s bent over backwards sometimes. Or I can call her at an arranged time. Has she ever given out her home number? You gotta be kidding, there´ s no way i can see her doing that.

Bond? Connection? never heard those words come out of her mouth. She´ s not a new ate guru mamma, she´ s a practical kind with good compassion. So what if she weren´ t raped as a kid or tortured or whatever, that´ s irrevlevant cuz I have FN friends who didn´ t have my crappy childhood and white friends who had worse. Again it´ s the system that drove the conquerors and their sick ways here and the repetitive patterns continue and yes you´ ll find more on the rez and yes you´ ll find more drinking etc. on many rezs but that´ s where you yourself are responble for taking direct action and pressuring council (usually full of " apples" - red on the outside , white on the inside) and then it´ s time to turn for council yourself or get people who are on track to and make it a dry rez.

I just can´ t get over the kaka that was written. If it were realy true Bawden would have had her license taken away long ago. Believe me.

Get on with your crappy life of playing the blame game , your credibility is zilch.

I´ ve had a lot of shrinks, believe me. Some were psyche ward appointed, others were recommendations. I stumbled onto Dr. Bawden from a friend. All I can say is we need more shrinks like her.

I´ ve never had a shrink so easy going yet so on the ball before! It´ s like calmness overcomes me as soon as I step into her office or talk with her on the phone. And yet she checks, double checks, sometimes triple checks meds, counterindications, goes over side effects, and all with compassion and humour (save for when humour isn´ t called for). If she doesn´ t know something she´ ll say so, which is refreshing from past twits with big egos I´ ve had, and then she´ ll find out for you!

I recommend Dr. Bawden. In my case I´ m bipolar, just to give you an indication of the levels she deals with. Her approach is eclectic and compassionate mixed in with science.

Dr. Bawden is condescending and dismissive. My concerns were promptly pushed aside and we were expected to go along with all of her decisions without explanations. She seems to take privilege in position as doctor ie. god-complex sounds about right.

I to come from Bella Bella and in a sense I do agree with this young lady. A lot crap goes down with our people by Authority figures. Men, women, elders... you name it. Even our kids whom we are ordered to protect by law are tossed away with no care.
This young lady was wrongfully treated by this doctor Carole Bawden, RCMP and hospital staff. It is so common for people of authority to twist the truth around i.e.. the RCMP who man handled this young lady like she was a criminal and not a patient. Thankfully, this young women had the strength and heart to stand up and say, " No, this is wrong!" . Ever since her complaint was won new policy were put in place for our people. One small victory can change so many. Encourage the minds of others who have been wrongfully treated. My wife and I were recently mistreated by off duty RCMP officers who were under the influence of alcohol. Thanks to the courage of one of our own we will proceed with a formal complaint.

Whoever that was that ripped her to shreds, I only gave about 8 seconds of my time. I could tell that person was over the top and was commenting from a hateful, dark part of herself. I didn´ t read more than about 3 lines.
I have always found Dr. Bawden to be not just a knowledgeable Psychiatrist but a " real" person at the same time. Talking to her in her office is as easy as talking with a friend in their living room. She has a wonderful sense of humour which is never inappropriate. She is punctual and watches the time only near the end of your session so as not to keep other patients waiting - which you know she does before you arrive also. She also gives a " warning" when your session is almost over and is sure the conversation is heading towards closure instead of a " time´ s up" attitude that others in my past have had where I walk away feeling very cut off. You are never left " hanging" , there is always time for an action plan if need be or something that will keep you in check until you see her next. I have always felt I could call her in an urgent situation and she has always returned my call. She has never made me feel needy or otherwise the time or two I had to do this. Can you imagine hearing about everyone´ s problems all day every day? I think she has chosen the right career and those of us who are lucky enough to see her reap those benefits. She is kind, genuine, appropriately reactive to what I am telling her and always makes me feel like I´ m not in this alone. I believe she truly cares about her patients. I consider myself really lucky to have her as a Dr.

Really, the only negative thing I can say about Carole Bawden is that she has cancelled my appointments. There are always good reasons but the cancellations seem to be too often. Other than that, she is friendly and helpful, puts me at ease and is insightful and concerned about my welfare.

I am Plains Cree living on Coast Salish Territory. Dr. Bawden has been a breathe of fresh air from practically all the other psychiatrists I´ ve had. Warm , compassionate, intelligent, sensitive and funny. I can´ t believe the negatives I see written here about her. She came well recommended so my friends are all in accordance with me. She´ s just a good shrink! I think misplaced trust and prejudice is happening here as well as blame. Putting your shit on a doctor just because you aren´ t taking charge of your own life isn´ t fair. Sounds like addict behavior.

I bet my Hobema against your Bella Bella anyday that Bawden is 100 times better than the run of the mill attitude shrinks most rez´ s get. Maybe because I´ m Kookum and more experienced I can better see things, and what I´ m seeing is resentment , so you found an outlet to kaka on someone´ s career. Try focussing on changing yourself instead of lashing out at a system that´ s wrong. You CAN help change things so please, put your angry energy to good use instead of using character attack that´ s not in the least bit true.
